Alcohol in Medicines

Question: Is it permissible to drink syrup prepared for medicinal purposes and containing ethyl alcohol?
ANSWER
If impure (najs) liquid, e.g., spirit, is mixed into medicine for a benefit, the mixture is pure. However, it is haram to drink that which is not for medicinal purpose. (Islam Ahlaki)

That is, mixtures for medicinal purposes are forgiven and permissible.

Question: Is it permissible to take medicines that contain amylase and trypsin which is extracted especially from pigs and cattle?
ANSWER
They can be eaten. It is not necessary to try to find out which animal it was extracted from.
