Adhan and Iqamat When One Is a Traveler

Question: If a safari (traveler) performs a fard salat individually or in jama'at, should he say adhan and iqamat before the salat?
ANSWER
A safari must say the adhan when performing salat, whether individually or in jama'at, in the mosque or at home because the adhan called out at a mosque does not include his salat. For this reason, it is better to say both the adhan and iqamat. [A safari does not have to say the adhan outdoors. He may say it wherever he is performing salat, e.g., in a hotel, at home, or in the mosque. He should say it in such a low tone as to hear it only himself.]
