Excuses That Permit a Person to Miss a Salat

Question: It is difficult to perform salat during journeys. Is there anything wrong with abandoning salats during a journey and making them up later?
ANSWER
It is a grave sin to miss a salat without a valid Shar’i reason. If a person is unable to perform salats by combining them either, there are five legitimate excuses that permit him to perform it after its due time:

1. If, in wartime, it is not possible to perform salat even by sitting and by facing a direction other than the qibla and if it is not possible either to perform it while riding,

2.
If one will get caught by a thief, bandit, or predator,

3.
If a midwife or a doctor who is performing an operation fears for the life of the mother or the life of her baby,

4.
Forgetting,

5.
Oversleeping.
